Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
- You can use Teacher Wallet without an account.
- Your answers, your expenses and your receipt photos stay on your phone. We never upload receipt photos.
- We collect basic, pseudonymous usage events to improve the app. We do not collect exact loan balances, names or receipt contents in analytics.
- We do not sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising. There are no ad trackers in the app.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Teacher Wallet (“Teacher Wallet”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps teachers find verified discounts, loan forgiveness programs and tax savings. This policy explains what information the app and our website (teacherwallet.app) collect, how we use it and the choices you have. Contact us at support@teacherwallet.app.
Information stored only on your device
The following stays on your phone and is not sent to us:
- Your profile answers: role, state, school type, Title I status, years of teaching, grade band, subjects, student-loan status (as a range), estimated classroom spending, stores you shop at, goals, and any PSLF payment count you enter.
- Classroom expenses and receipt photos you add in the Taxes tab. Photos you take or choose are saved inside the app’s private storage. They leave your phone only if you create an export (PDF or CSV) and choose where to share it.
- Saved and claimed offers, and reminder settings.
Deleting the app removes this data. You can also erase it in Me → Settings → Account → Delete data on this device.
Information we collect
| What | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|
| Usage events: screens viewed, buttons tapped, onboarding steps completed, offers viewed or saved, searches in the app, and broad answer buckets (for example a state or a role, never an exact balance). Tied to a random app identifier, plus device model, OS version, app version and approximate location derived from IP address. | To understand which features help teachers, find bugs and improve the app. | PostHog (analytics, US hosting) |
| Purchase information: whether you have an active subscription, the product, the purchase and renewal dates, and an anonymous app user ID. We never see your card or payment details. | To unlock Teacher Wallet Plus and restore purchases. | Apple (payments), RevenueCat (subscription status) |
| Account information (only if you choose to sign in): your email address, or the private relay email and user identifier provided by Sign in with Apple. | To back up your account and let you sign in on a new device. | Supabase (authentication, US hosting) |
| Messages you send us, such as a “Report a problem” email. | To answer you and fix data errors. | Our email provider |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health information, Social Security number, loan account numbers or your student-loan servicer login. We never ask for them.
Camera, photos and notifications
The app asks for camera or photo-library access only when you add a receipt, and uses it only to attach that photo to your expense. Notifications (for example a PSLF certification reminder or a trial reminder) are scheduled on your device; we do not use push-notification tokens for marketing.
Links to other sites
Offer and program pages link to brand and government websites, and verification services such as ID.me or SheerID. When you open them, their own privacy policies apply. Brand logos are bundled inside the app, so viewing a logo does not contact the brand.
How we use information
- To provide the app’s features and your subscription.
- To improve accuracy, fix bugs and understand which features are useful.
- To respond to your messages.
- To meet legal obligations and protect the app from fraud or abuse.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell it. We do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined in California law.
How long we keep it
Usage events are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated. Account information is kept until you delete your account. Purchase records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: Me → Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your sign-in account from our servers. On-device data is removed when you delete the app or use “Delete data on this device” on the same screen.
- Access, correct or delete: email us and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws have these rights by law, and we extend them to all users.
- Analytics: you can ask us to delete the usage events tied to your app identifier.
- We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children
Teacher Wallet is for adult educators. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Account data is protected by access controls at our providers. No method is perfectly secure, so we collect as little as we can.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will tell you in the app.
